# Claude Desktop

> Connect your TryMCP server to Claude Desktop.

Open your server's **Integration** tab. Select **Claude Desktop** and copy the config. It uses `mcp-remote` as a bridge and needs Node.js with `npx` on your computer.

Add the entry to `claude_desktop_config.json`. Keep any existing server entries.

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "trymcp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote@latest",
        "https://your-server.trymcp.io/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Replace the URL with your endpoint. Restart Claude Desktop and check that your active tools appear.

## Private servers

For **Unlisted**, use the full URL with its secret path.

For **API Key**, add these two items at the end of `args`:

```json theme={null}
["--header", "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"]
```

Replace `YOUR_API_KEY` with the server's key. For **OAuth**, complete your provider's sign-in flow when prompted.

If the connection fails, check the URL, [security mode](/security), and the server's Active switch.
